DIY: How to Make a Pet Collar

DIY: How to Make a Pet Collar

February 20th has been officially named, “Love Your Pet Day.” But let’s get real. If you are a pet owner this holiday occurs on a daily basis. Growing up, my house had a steady stream of pets including dogs, cats, hamsters, fish and birds. Anytime we were petless, though always short lived, the house seemed empty and quite frankly, depressing. There is something truly magical about the bond we can establish with animals and what they can do for our overall wellbeing. This has become increasingly more apparent to me is recent years with my involvement with Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization which trains and provides service dogs for children and adults with physical disabilities or other special needs. I first started volunteering with this incredible organization in 2013 as a way to get actively involved in the Atlanta community. Instantly, I was hooked and since have fostered 7 dogs and worked with countless others. My love for animals has grown tremendously over the past few years and I have met some of the most selfless and inspiring people on the planet.

As I am writing this post my fur child is faithfully by my side occasionally nudging my hand as she wants some tennis ball time so I best get to the point. When I am not running BashBLOK or volunteering with Canine Assistants I am most likely working on a sewing or crafting project. Creating is in my blood and what better way to put my skills to work that make a little gift for my favorite fur baby. Sewing a pet collar has never been easier. Just a few minutes and materials are all you need to make this piece. Be sure to tag us on Instagram, @BashBLOK, or post your collar making success on our Facebook page, Facebook.com/BashBLOK. I absolutely love seeing what people create.

xoxo, Brittany
