29 Dec New Year’s Eve Cocktail Menu
With 2016 just days away we at BashBLOK can’t help but be excited. It has been an extra thrilling year for us as we officially launched our event planning app, to better plan and organize your bash and our blog, to share our favorite ideas and products. We look forward to continuing to bring you the best in all things party planning. To kick off the new year, we’ve come up with a fool proof cocktail menu. Cheers to 2016 and may your next bash be a smash!
First, The Old Fashioned…regardless of the celebration this cocktail is always a favorite. Just a few ingredients are needed to make this timeless classic.
2 ounces overproof rye or bourbon
1/2 ounce simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Combine whiskey, simple syrup and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice. Stir then strain into old fashioned glass with ice. Garnish with orange twist.
Next, a product of Prohibition, The Sidecar. If you are looking for a fresh and slightly citrusy option, this is the perfect option for you.
3/4 ounce Cointreau
3/4 ounce lemon juice
1 1/2 ounces cognac
Shake well with cracked ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass that has had its outside rim rubbed with lemon juice and dipped in sugar.
Third, The Cosmopolitan, and more specifically…a Pomegranate Cosmopolitan by way of Ina Garten. Ina is a team BashBLOK favorite and we find her recipes to be reliable and easy to follow.
2 cups (16 ounces) good vodka
1 cup (8 ounces) orange liqueur (recommended: Cointreau)
1 cup (8 ounces) pomegranate juice
½ cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 3 limes)
Lime peel strips, to garnish (shape to curl)
Combine the vodka, orange liqueur, pomegranate juice, and freshly squeezed lime juice in a large pitcher. Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice, pour the cocktail mixture in, and shake for a full 30 seconds. Pour into martini glasses, garnish with a lime peel strip curl, and serve immediately.

And lastly, one that requires a little more preparation, the Sir Isaac Newton. But folks, we promise this is well worth the effort. It was a major hit at our holiday party!
1 oz. apple-cinnamon syrup*
½ oz. lemon juice
1½ oz. apple brandy
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 very thin slice of apple, for garnish
Combine the syrup, lemon juice, brandy, and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Float the apple slice on the drink for a garnish, and serve.
*To make the apple cider-cinnamon syrup, bring 4 cups of good-quality apple cider to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat to medium-low, add a cinnamon stick, and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for about 25 minutes, or until the cider has reduced to the consistency of syrup. Bring to room temperature, then refrigerate in a tightly covered container. The yield is about 4 ounces.
Happy New Year!
