Hands down, Halloween is my FAVORITE holiday. Reason being, it's the only holiday with no pressure to perform, you get to be a little silly and no one will judge should you choose not to participate in all the spook-tacular festivities. However, I always choose to participate and decorate my home inside and out. I love getting my craft on during this time of year and never tire of creating unique and oh-so-special pieces to add to my arsenal of decorations. One of my favorite Halloween decorations is putting twinkle light spin on a plain witches hat. These are perfect for hanging from trees, in stairwells, suspended from the ceiling and so much more. This craft is super duper easy, has tremendous impact and best of all, is mega budget friendly (our favorite).

Ah, weddings. They are the most joyous of occasions and at BashBLOK, we absolutely love them. A beautiful bride, handsome groom, delicious cake, hours of dancing and lots, and lots, of money spent. Let's face it, weddings are mucho expensive more often than not, couples go over budget. How does this happen? Even if you have done your research and know the average price tag of a wedding there are a lot of small, hidden costs people often fail to mention. We have learned a thing or two in our years of researching weddings and are delighted to share our tips on how to avoid wedding spending surprises.

Let's face it, entertaining can get pretty pricey pretty quickly. In my years of entertaining, I've done my fair share of overspending and getting caught up in the planning moment(s) when making purchases for events. Earlier this year I was looking for a marble serving platter to complement a few pieces I already own and just wasn't willing to spend the $120 for my favorite find. I thought, "Really? there's nothing to this thing!" My mind got working and I took a trip to Home Depot just to see how much a piece of marble tile would cost me. I-WAS-SHOCKED! I found a 12"x12" tile for less than $5...so I bought two :) Then, I took my mission a step further and took a trip to Michael's. Ah, leave it to the lovely Martha Stewart to have few reasonably priced gold gilding products. For about $15 (with coupons) I purchased all the supplies I needed to make my own version of a gold trimmed serving platter. And, I have a little video to show you my process plus, all supplies are listed below. Total cost, less than $20!

We’ve all experienced our fair share of party planning disasters…I certainly know I have. Breakdowns in communication, going over budget, disorganized information and pretty much all the joy taken out of the celebration is what inspired me to found BashBLOK. My main goal was to make event planning fun again by creating a web application for planners everywhere to save time, enjoy collaborating and keep all the details in one place.

Your BFF just got engaged over the holidays. Yay! Such happy news calls for a celebration. Though we love traditional showers with tiny sandwiches and fancy fruit tea we have become quite fond of the couple's shower. Reason? It allows for everyone, both guys and gals, to share in the excitement of the upcoming nuptials. Also, it is the perfect time for both friend groups to get to know one another. We've said it before and we'll say it again, Halloween is our absolute favorite holiday of the year. Aside from our love of pumpkins and the color orange Halloween combines creativity and good ole fashioned fun for an evening filled with spirits, spooks and spells. Though this tends to be a pretty low pressure holiday, if you are hosting a bash it is easy to get overwhelmed with projects. The cost of decorations can add up quickly and before you know it you've spent hundreds of dollars on items that will only be out for a few short weeks. However, we pride ourselves on achieving the look for less so you are in luck. We have a fun spooky fence project your guests are sure to remember and will only cost you about $50 for materials...and a few short hours of your time.

Mid summer is upon us and you know what that means. No, we are not talking about all the school supply commercials that still give us anxiety even though we are grown adults. We are talking about the 4th of July, the holiday centered around stars, stripes, fireworks and grilled meat. Though this tends to be a more relaxed holiday it seems preparing for the 4th is often underestimated especially if you are the host for this festive occasion. To make things a little easier for you we have one super simple centerpiece that can be completed in a matter of minutes plus a few creative uses for bandanas. Nothing says 'Merica like a bandana. And the best part, your guests will think you were prepping your house for days!
