Ah, weddings. They are the most joyous of occasions and at BashBLOK, we absolutely love them. A beautiful bride, handsome groom, delicious cake, hours of dancing and lots, and lots, of money spent. Let's face it, weddings are mucho expensive more often than not, couples go over budget. How does this happen? Even if you have done your research and know the average price tag of a wedding there are a lot of small, hidden costs people often fail to mention. We have learned a thing or two in our years of researching weddings and are delighted to share our tips on how to avoid wedding spending surprises.

Let's face it, entertaining can get pretty pricey pretty quickly. In my years of entertaining, I've done my fair share of overspending and getting caught up in the planning moment(s) when making purchases for events. Earlier this year I was looking for a marble serving platter to complement a few pieces I already own and just wasn't willing to spend the $120 for my favorite find. I thought, "Really? there's nothing to this thing!" My mind got working and I took a trip to Home Depot just to see how much a piece of marble tile would cost me. I-WAS-SHOCKED! I found a 12"x12" tile for less than $5...so I bought two :) Then, I took my mission a step further and took a trip to Michael's. Ah, leave it to the lovely Martha Stewart to have few reasonably priced gold gilding products. For about $15 (with coupons) I purchased all the supplies I needed to make my own version of a gold trimmed serving platter. And, I have a little video to show you my process plus, all supplies are listed below. Total cost, less than $20!

Enjoy!

xoxo, Brittany

We’ve all experienced our fair share of party planning disasters…I certainly know I have. Breakdowns in communication, going over budget, disorganized information and pretty much all the joy taken out of the celebration is what inspired me to found BashBLOK. My main goal was to make event planning fun again by creating a web application for planners everywhere to save time, enjoy collaborating and keep all the details in one place.

Spring is juuuuust days away and if you are anything like team BashBLOK, you are loving the warmer weather, pretty flowers and colorful assortment of produce at the grocery store. With all this beauty we are inspired to go fresh and try new recipes as we have moved on from heavy holiday comfort food. Without neglecting your taste buds we are thrilled to share our top five light and easy recipes perfect for your Spring bash or...a night in.

There is nothing like the ‘Fall’idays. It’s that magical time of year when the surroundings turn sepia toned, riding boots come out of storage and we southerners rejoice in cooler weather. The fall just happens to be team BashBLOK’s season of choice and we have a few quick and easy go-to traditions to add a little spice to entertaining this time of year. Your guests will be so impressed with these charming touches they will be counting down the days to your next bash.

It's National Pink Day! We at BashBLOK will take just about any reason to celebrate an occasion and today is no exception. Pink is a cheerful color that screams summer, happiness and straight up fun. We Google searched for weeks, well more like hours, to find our top 5 pink picks to not only celebrate this ever so special holiday but the hottest season of the year. We promise you will love these essentials all the way to fall and maybe the winter if you live in the south.

Entertaining at home can be an exhausting task and not to mention, very stressful. Our very own BashBLOK Co-Founder and CEO, Brittany Garman, is preparing for her first bash of the year to be hosted at her home. From napkin folding, menu selection, sewing projects, and decorations, follow her as she preps and shares tips for making your next Bash-At-Home a smash!

We cannot get enough and are so inspired by this gorgeous baby shower featured on Hostess with the Mostess Blog. A playful color palette, Polaroid station, and bohemian decorations were perfectly coordinated by the team at Petite Pomme Design and Jeanette Quintero of Candy Crush. Our personal favorite design touches are the sequin table cloths adding a bit of sparkle and the mix of different cake stands at the dessert table. Definitely, a smash!

It's Fall, our favorite time of year! Even more of a favorite for team BashBLOK is Halloween. This spooky holiday allows our DIY team to get super crafty, creative and lends the opportunity to use glow-in-the-dark paint. To get ready for our upcoming 'All Hallow's Eve' Bash we have prepared a very quick and easy pumpkin centerpiece. The majority of these items for this craft were purchased at Michael's for under $50 with coupons and fall decor promotions. Can't beat that! Follow step-by-step and learn how to recreate this pumpkin display for your next Spooky Bash!

When gift shopping for a man of style, finding pieces that are unique as he is can be quite a challenge regardless of the occasion. The options often seem repetitive and impersonal which just won't do for someone oh so special in your life. However, with the creativity and knack for thinking "outside the box", our procurement team has found a few, very special and unique gift pieces that are sure to inspire. First up, an antique lap writing desk from the late 1800's. Pretty cool, huh? This is the perfect piece for housing pocket squares, cufflinks or even the more obvious choice, personalized stationary. See our Ebay picks of similar pieces below.
